India, Good Shepherd Centre Sandanapalaya
In 25 villages areound Sandanapalaya in the south of Karnataka State, Good Shepherd Sisters are working to promote wholistic development. One of their projects is the encouragement of the weaving ability of the women. The Trading Circle has begun supporting this initiative and many of the colourful floor rugs are now available in our shops at very reasonable prices.

The young hill tribe women at the Good Shepherd Youth Centre are embroiderers from their childhood. Each tribal group has its unique embroidery style and they produce beautiful work as they sit and talk with each other in their free time.

Conference Name Tags
These beautiful name tags have been made by young women at the Good Shepherd Drop-In Centre in Cebu, many of whom have been trafficked from other islands into the sex trade. The name tags are worn around the neck. When not being used as a name tag, the beads can be detached and worn as a necklace. By purchasing these name tags for your conference, you are helping to change the lives of these young women. A lead time of two months is advisable. The product price is $3 per name tag for orders of 50 or less but $2.50 each for orders of more than 50.

Large Yajok Bag
This bag has been very popular with customers since we began importing it in 2008. As can be seen from the photo, the patches on the bags may be predominantly red and black or dark brown, or brown and tan or orange. There are few that have a predominance of green patches. These bags are made by women in the region around Chieng Rai and sold through the Good Shepherd Youth Centre.
