Fatima Self Help Centre, which has been in existence since 1979, currently employs about 100 women from the surrounding slum areas. At the beginning of 2006 the old Fatima Centre had to be demolished because of structural problems and a new Centre has been built, opening in 2007.

Philippines, Good Shepherd Drop-In Centre, Cebu

The Good Shepherd Drop-In Centre in Cebu offers support to young women, many of them minors, who have been lured to Cebu City by recruiters offering jobs. Most come from north Mindanao. In Cebu, they are brought directly to brothels. The making of Conference name tags that can also be used as necklaces, is a project that is offering some of the young women a chance to begin freeing themselves from the need to be involved in the sex trade.

The name tags are worn around the neck. When not being used as a name tag, the beads can be detached and worn as a necklace. "Normal Days" by Scattered People is a project of the record label Sweet Freedom Inc. It is a follow-up CD to the award winning Scattered People album. As the media release for the CD notes, the title of the CD "expresses the overwhelming desire of asyum seekrs for normality where skills are valued, safety is assured and access to ordinary life is welcomed."
