Philippines, Likas Lunas Card and Herbal Project
This project began about 16 years ago in response to the needs of young people living in the area around the Good Shepherd Sisters complex in Quezon City, Manila. It began with one young boy who had dropped out of school and unemployed. When finally his artistic talents were discovered by one of the Good Shepherd Sisters, he began making cards which could be sold. He was joined by other young people who work at the creation and production of cards for Christmas and for all purposes. Many of those who have been involved in the project in the past are now employed as mechanics, engineers, cooks, nurses and in other trades and professions.
The Good Shepherd Trading Circle does not import the herbal products which are made by Likas Lunas, but these find a ready market in Manila.
